Lawful Interception
The term "Lawful Interception" describes the process by which law enforcement agencies conduct electronic surveillance of circuit and packet-mode communications as authorized by judicial or administrative order.  It is about capturing communications network data relevant to law enforcement authority for the objective of evidence or analysis. Such records typically consist of call related information or in some instances, the content of the communications. The key basis for LI is the interception of communications by law enforcement agencies in accordance with local law. Implementations of interceptions, particularly real-time access to content, generally require due process and receiving proper authorization from competent authorities.

Countries throughout the globe have adopted regulatory requirements for telecom service providers to design and implement their networks to support authorized electronic surveillance explicitly. These requirements have been executed standards developed by 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) or Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA)- for telecom service providers.

In order to prevent investigations being compromised, LI systems may be designed in a manner that hides the interception from the telecommunications operator concerned. This is a requirement in some jurisdictions. 6d supports the latest specifications and offers unique telecom solutions to accelerate deployment of network elements that enable an unparalleled combination of scalability, global interoperability, and fault resilience applications on open computing platforms.
