Requirement:
MTNL’s network, being a multi vendor was facing an issue of routing “Location Update” messages to the right HLR as the IMSI series were not range bound because of which MSC did not have the intelligence to route “Location Update” message to the “right” HLR.

6d’s Solution:
The requirement was very critical has any solution would have to be highly available because of the nature of the functionality of this new node - any downtime will lead to non transmission of “Location Update” messages, in turn leading to call outages. 6d took up this challenge to which Motorola showed faith.

6d deployed solution in between MSCs and HLR which:

Had a Look Up table mapping IMSIs to the right HLR
Relay the incoming signalling messages from MSC to the right HLR after the Look Up

Needless to say, Motorola and MTNL were satisfied customers – thanks to our platform’s high availability.
